Rusty Young was born and raised in Obion County, TN, where he attended the Obion County School System for elementary school, prior to graduating from Union City High School. Rusty went on to earn his undergraduate degree in Finance from the University of Tennessee at Martin. After graduating from UT-Martin, Rusty began his career in the logistics and transportation industry where worked for several years prior to attending Mississippi College School of Law from which he received his Doctorate of Jurisprudence. During his time in law school he was a founding member and served as both Vice-President and President of the Agriculture Law Society, along with being a member in other various legal societies and studying Europe.
In 2019, Rusty was fortunate enough to work as an associate attorney with a prominent local firm before opening his own firm, Law Office of Robert R. Young IV, in 2020, located in Union City, TN. In 2024, Rusty expanded his endeavors by establishing Young & Smith, PLLC.
Rusty is on the Board of the Obion County Emergency Communication District (E-911), a member of the Obion County Bar Association, Weakley County Bar Association, and Tennessee Bar Associations. When not in the office you can find Rusty on the golf course during the summer or in the field or on the water hunting during the winter.
Taylor Hatcher Smith grew up in Greenfield, Tennessee. She graduated Summa cum laude from The University of Tennessee at Martin with a degree in Political Science. She served as Treasurer for Chi Omega and Vice President of the Political Science Club during her time at UT-Martin. After obtaining her undergraduate degree, Taylor attended Nashville School of Law where she received her Doctorate of Jurisprudence.
In 2021, Taylor founded her law firm, Taylor Hatcher Smith, PLLC, which operates alongside the Law Office of Judy Barker in Union City, Tennessee. Taylor Hatcher Smith, PLLC focuses on estate planning and probate matters. In 2024, Taylor expanded her practice and became a founding member of Young & Smith, PLLC.
Taylor is the current President of the Obion County Bar Association as well as a member of the Tennessee Bar Association. Outside of the office, Taylor spends most of her time on the Smith Family Farm with her Husband, Matt Smith, and their spunky 2 year old daughter, Hagan.
Geoffrey K. Middleton was raised in Huntsville, AL. He graduated from Auburn University with a degree in English Literature. After graduating from Auburn, he attended Mississippi College School of Law where he received his Doctorate of Jurisprudence. After law school, Geoffrey worked for the then Louisiana State Senator Rick Gallot and co-founded a successful political consulting business, Left|Right Strategies, LLC.
Geoffrey returned to Huntsville in 2014 to practice law and worked alongside John Russell Munger, Jr. at Munger and Middleton for 9 years. In 2023 he branched out and started his own firm, Middleton Law Firm, which focuses on real estate transactions and estate planning. Once Geoffrey established Middleton Law Firm, he again expanded and became a founding member of Young & Smith, PLLC in 2024.
Geoffrey is also a big proponent of community involvement with a focus on education within the real estate industry. Geoffrey is at the forefront of real estate law. He teaches monthly seminars and classes designed for local real estate agents, investors, and real estate industry professionals.
